At Dessin Academy, we believe true artistry begins when children learn to see beyond outlines and bring drawings to life with shading. Our Advanced Course – Pencil Shading Level 1 is designed for children in 5th Standard and above or those who have successfully completed Intermediate Course Level 2. This course focuses on the fundamentals of pencil shading, teaching children how to create light, shadow, texture, and depth in their artworks.
What Kids Will Learn in Pencil Shading Level 1
The course introduces students to shading techniques and helps them refine their observation skills. Step by step, children learn to turn simple line drawings into realistic artworks.
Basics of Pencil Shading – Light source, tonal values, and gradients.
Shading Techniques – Hatching, cross-hatching, blending, and stippling.
Object Drawing with Shading – Adding depth to geometric and daily objects.
Nature Study – Trees, leaves, flowers, and landscapes with pencil tones.
Life Study (Introductory Shading) – Birds, animals, and human figures in proportion.
Texture Practice – Creating the effect of wood, fabric, stone, and metal surfaces.
Composition with Shading – Combining elements to create complete artworks.

Selaiyur Branch, commenced operations in October 2022, one of the branches to be recognized as THE BEST BRANCH - UPCOMING within 6 months of commencement. Students from this branch regularly participate in multiple art competitions conducted by some of the prestigious brands like Decathlon, Axis Bank, etc. Such competitions are conducted at district and state levels and our students have always made us proud by winning 2 to 3 awards in the top 3 positions. Our current strength is 75 plus students including 13 online students from outside India. The branch is open Monday thru Saturday 5p.m to 7p.m and Sundays between 10.30a.m and 12.30 p.m.
A passionate and emerging artist qualified with a Diploma in Fine Arts (DFA) from Dr JJTNMFA University and an advanced diploma from Dessin Academy, Institute of Fine Arts; started pursuing it as a career after completing of bachelor in commerce and pursuing a career in Accounting for 7 years. Successfully handling the Dessin Academy Selaiyur branch since January 2022. Her artworks were displayed in many national and international exhibition forums and won many accolades and awards such as "Kalam's World Record" award, "Francisco de Goya" award, ""Best Modern Art 2021"" award etc. She has created a unique style of artwork and depicts Indian subjects through her abstract style.
